The question of whether a sequel to Disney and Pixar’s beloved animated film Brave will be made has been a subject of much speculation. Numerous videos, trailers, and other content titled “Brave 2” can be found online. However, most of this is fan-made content, and there is currently no official announcement from Disney or Pixar regarding a Brave 2 film.
The increase in such content can sometimes lead to the idea that a new film is in the works. It could even be considered a preliminary study to gauge audience interest. However, since there is no official information confirming this at this stage, it’s not possible to say that a Brave 2 film is in development.

Will there be a Brave sequel?
The first Brave film didn’t initially seem to be a production aimed at creating a long-running film series. Therefore, it’s not surprising that there isn’t a pre-determined plan for a second film. However, in the film world, sequels are quite common years later, driven by audience demand, character popularity, and new story ideas.
Moreover, there’s an officially continuing story within the Brave universe.
Brave 2 (Bravely) Sequel
In 2022, Maggie Stiefvater published the novel “Bravely.” Published by Disney, this book takes place several years after the Brave film and continues Merida’s story.
Merida is now approximately 20 years old and continues to live in DunBroch with her family. However, she begins to feel uneasy about the stagnation in both her life and the kingdom’s.
The story follows Merida on a new adventure to save her family and kingdom from a great danger. After a supernatural entity named Feradach threatens to destroy DunBroch, Merida must embark on a struggle lasting about a year to bring about change in her family and kingdom.
In fact, this sequel could be one of the reasons why expectations for Brave 2 have been revived. Because there is an official storyline about Merida’s life after the first film. This naturally leads viewers to ask, “Since the story continues, why not make a second film?”
Will Brave 2 be released? Is there a possibility?
Bravely doesn’t directly mean a Brave 2 film. However, it’s noteworthy in that it shows Disney hasn’t completely abandoned the Merida character and the Brave universe. The fact that the book was published on May 3, 2022, and that the story is set several years after the first film, suggests that there’s a ready-made story universe that could be used for a future sequel.
It’s also possible that Disney assessed audience interest in the Brave universe while preparing this project. After all, bringing a beloved character back to the audience in a different format can be one way to both keep the brand alive and gauge demand for the character. However, there’s no official statement indicating that this is preparation for a future Brave 2 film.
In short, a Brave 2 film hasn’t been officially announced yet. There is no definitive information from Disney or Pixar regarding the film’s release date, cast, director, or production process.
However, a sequel to Brave does exist. The book Bravely tells the story of Merida in the years after the first film. Therefore, if Disney and Pixar decide to make Brave 2 in the future, they have a very suitable story foundation to continue.
From now on, it’s entirely up to the producers. Whether Brave 2 will actually be made and the direction the story will take will become clear when a new film project is officially confirmed.
