About

MovieSift is an independent entertainment publication focused on one of the questions audiences ask most often: what happens next?

We cover movie sequels, returning television and streaming series, anime and manga continuations, release date developments, franchise updates and carefully selected entertainment lists.

Our goal is not to publish every entertainment headline. Instead, MovieSift focuses on questions that continue to matter after the credits roll, including whether a sequel is possible, whether a series will return for another season, what is currently known about a future installment and which information has actually been confirmed.

What We Cover

MovieSift is organized around four primary editorial areas:

  • Sequels: Updates about potential movie sequels, sequel status, possible release dates, development history and reasons a planned continuation may not have happened.
  • TV & Streaming: Coverage of returning television and streaming series, renewal status, potential new seasons, cancellations and release date developments.
  • Anime & Manga: Updates about future anime seasons, continuations, adaptations, manga developments and release information.
  • Lists: Curated movie, television and anime recommendations, themed lists, underrated titles and content for viewers looking for something new to watch.

Our Approach to Sequel and Release Date Coverage

Entertainment audiences frequently encounter headlines claiming that a sequel, new season or release date has been “confirmed” when no official announcement has actually been made.

MovieSift aims to make that distinction clear.

When we cover a potential sequel or returning series, we look at the available evidence, including official announcements, comments from filmmakers and cast members, studio or streaming platform statements, reputable industry reporting, production developments and the history of the franchise.

If a movie or season has not been officially confirmed, we say so. If a date is only an estimate, expectation or prediction, it should not be presented as an official release date.

Confirmed Information, Reports and Rumors

MovieSift distinguishes between different levels of information whenever possible.

  • Confirmed: Information announced by an official studio, distributor, network, streaming service, production company or directly involved creator.
  • Reported: Information published by a credible industry or news source but not yet formally announced by the rights holder.
  • Rumor: Information circulating without sufficient authoritative confirmation.
  • Analysis or Prediction: An editorial assessment based on available information, franchise history, production circumstances or release patterns.

Rumors and predictions should never be presented to readers as established facts.

Why MovieSift Exists

Many entertainment stories do not end when a movie leaves theaters or a television season finishes. Viewers may continue asking about a sequel for years. A canceled series may generate renewed interest after appearing on a streaming platform. An anime adaptation may pause while its source material continues. A movie that once appeared abandoned may return to development years later.

MovieSift is designed to follow those stories over time.

Rather than treating every article as disposable news, we aim to maintain useful pages that can be updated when meaningful new information becomes available.

Accuracy and Updates

Entertainment projects can change quickly. Release dates move, development plans change, contracts expire and projects may be delayed, reworked or canceled.

For that reason, MovieSift may update existing articles when credible new information becomes available. Important updates should be incorporated into the relevant article so readers can understand the current status of a project without having to piece together outdated information from multiple pages.

When a factual error is identified, we aim to correct it as quickly and transparently as practical.
